    Reflection on First MathCast Projects
One more thing we talked about doing was organizing the content into grade-level or subject-matter groupings. If you guys will take care of that (you can post the list in here if you want), then I'll come up with a table and get the page organized.

    Reflection on First MathCast Projects
Tommy Jones, Danielle Darmo, and Laura Deisley met to review the first project developed with the 7th grade advanced math students. The following are the notes from this meeting as well as some follow-up information.

    1. Smartboard screencasts could be done on laptops with headsets as opposed to on smartboards using notebook software. Is that software loaded on all the laptops? This would enable students to record during allocated class time, free periods, etc and it would limit the outside noise level distraction. Could students check out laptops and do at home?

    2. Need to "demo" the cast for other students for any errors on suggested changes before publishing? Add a peer review segment, at least at the end, with student comments posted on the wiki page in the discussion tab.

    3. Give students option to create review materials in different formats (some might want to create a movie, song, etc) as opposed to "forcing" a specific medium. Only requirement is the ability to convert to digital format for uploading to wiki and archiving.

    4. Set up a Project Turn In Folder on the server for all screencasts as opposed to storing them on desktops.

    5. Need more smartboard support. Would have been nice to have Laura and/or Lance more involved in the recording aspect, and easily available to help answer wiki questions (formatting, styles, etc). Laura will record instructional videos on wiki basics to the MS Resource Network wiki and provide a link to Lovett MathCasts for future use. We should do the same for the Smartboards and recording using the notebook software. We will also identify "quiet spaces" next year, spaces that can be dedicated to recording. MS? Old MS?

    6. Tommy and Danielle will identifying "student tech aides" to each class who could help with tech questions as well.

    7. Copyright issue: One of the screencasts has a pop song (Britney Spears or Beyonce?) playing as background music during the quiz portion. This violates copyright because it is not transformative use. Need to have students redo.

    8. Sharing: Wiki is currently set so anyone can come in and edit. Laura is going to encourage discussion by educators and students in the discussion section, and she'll write a blog post for the MS Resource Network and share with the Lower School.
